Health Savings Accounts

A Health Savings Account is a checkbook in which you make tax deductible deposits to be used later for health expenses such as; doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays, tests, therapy, glasses, contacts, braces, and even travel to health providers.

The account earns a competitive interest rate and as you make wise health care decisions, your account and interest thereon will grow and compound.

Interest earned is tax free if used for medical expenses. For non medical withdrawals interest is tax deferred and a 10% tax penalty is imposed if under age 65.

At death, no penalty would be assessed, but income tax would be due.*
